Artificial dyes on the scope of potential bans by the Department of Health and Human Services and the FDA

In a move to enhance public health, Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy has called on food manufacturers to eliminate artificial dyes from their products. Removing these synthetic additives is a top priority for the current administration.

Recently, the FDA had banned Red 3, a change that takes effect in 2027. The FDA states links Red 3 to cancer in laboratory animals, particularly thyroid cancer and tumor formation in male rats. The FDA has revoked its authorization for use in food and ingested drugs. The report can be found here. At Obrilo, we strive to provide healthier alternatives to drinking sugary, and high-calorie drinks. In our water enhancer product lines, we promise no added synthetic dyes such as Red 40. We believe dyeing our products is unnecessary and not very beneficial to human health. We prefer the natural coloration that comes from our ingredients, and not dyes or coloring that comes from juices.
